River South

A Day In The Life

Art 2- cropped.jpg

The secret is out on the River South neighborhood! It’s an urban gem perfectly placed east of the Scioto River and near the Columbus Commons. This little slice of downtown living has exploded with growth over the past few years, and it keeps getting better.

It feels like new restaurants are popping up every day! We stopped by The Goat for some delish summer cocktails and fell in love with the floor-to-ceiling doors that open onto a patio, which totally captures the indoor/outdoor vibe. The food is top notch! We recommend the tots: homemade shredded potatoes fried up and smothered in tender brisket, cheese, and chives…need we say more? The ambiance is chic with a West Elm look, gold finishes, subway tiles, and deep blue undertones. Top it all off with live music and you will be back there every week for summer patio hangs.

We have been dying to check out Jewelweed, and it’s finally happened! It’s a beyond charming shop with an array of eclectic pottery and plants. They have giant cacti and tiny succulents, a selection of air plants, and gorgeous floral arrangements to class up your space.

Right next door is Spoonful, a gold mine for vinyl. From new releases to classics you need to complete your collection, they have it all. The staff is super-friendly and knowledgeable, making it the perfect stop on your lazy Sunday walk. (Make it a twofer and stop at Jewelweed, too!)

The Scioto Mile Riverwalk shouldn’t be missed. It’s stunning, with great city views, acres of greenspace for your picnic, a path for biking or running, and, of course, the river. See if you can spot some kayakers or a paddleboard yoga class…which we are dying to try!

The Columbus Commons is just a hop, skip, and a jump away, offering a variety of food trucks on any given Thursday. Of course, we beelined toward a Columbus classic, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream! We are all about the brambleberry crunch. The Commons is also a hub of entertainment throughout the summer. They have a huge lineup of summer concerts, free fitness classes, and food truck fairs. Check out their list of upcoming events– we will see you there!
